Fall 2024

Trinity Park was buzzing with simple joy at the (first annual?) Rock in the Park September 29. A crowd of neighbors relaxed in lawn chairs to the tunes of our very own musicians on a perfect early fall afternoon.

Kids and adults alike enjoyed treats from Alsie’s ice cream truck. A few intrepid neighbors cranked up a smoothie on Bike Durham’s pedal-driven blender.

“It was so much fun for everyone and typified the Trinity Park spirit,” said Scott Doron, organizer for the event and member of the TPNA Board. “On a beautiful fall day, neighbors of all ages, many with children and grandchildren, enjoyed each other and their talented musical neighbors, in our very own Park.”

The music kicked off with Marty Smith, founder of the group Lorenz and the Butterfly, a 23 year resident of Trinity Park, and an environmental economics professor at Duke, playing his own songs on guitar.

Teddy and Friends followed, featuring 4 year old Teddy Loeser and friends (mom, dad, Grandma, Poppa, sister Maggie) leading a sing-a-long of Wagon Wheel and the Beatles.

Finally, rocking into the early evening was The Simple Joy (check out their music here), led by Trinity Park residents Tuck Satterfield and Michael Lowry. Many neighbors had already caught their songs on Spotify and were delighted to hear them in person.

Tuck called out “See you next time” as the Simple Joy finished their set from the gazebo. We certainly hope so.
