National Night Out

National Night Out (NNO) is a nation-wide community-building event that brings neighbors together with local police and government officials for a cook-out and conversation, promoting good relations and safe, healthy neighborhoods.

Join us at the Park on October 3, 4:30-8:00 pm, for our 2023 National Night Out (NNO) celebration! Enjoy grilled hot dogs (vegetarian included), Domino’s pizza, beverages and snacks, all provided by TPNA. We’ll have activities and toys for the kids.  Bring a side dish or dessert to share if you are able.

In addition to the food and conversation, we’ll also have a ribbon-cutting celebration for the recently renovated granite steps into the Park on W. Trinity.

NNO is traditionally held on the first Tuesday in August. But in 2023 Durham Police Department re-scheduled it to October, hoping for cooler temperatures.  So NNO will be celebrated on October 3 this year in Trinity Park, as well as in many other neighborhoods throughout Durham.

The 2022 NNO event took place in Trinity Park on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. Several Durham police officers came to the event and spoke with community members, while enjoying the hospitality of TPNA volunteers. Many families, both new to the area and lifers, came to the park, and the playground rang with the sounds of excited children. Meanwhile Julia Borbely-Brown collected school supplies for Durham Public Schools as part of the “Fill That Bus —Crayons2Calculators” drive. Many bags were filled with pencils, rulers, notebooks, crayons, and more. All enjoyed the return to normalcy and getting a chance to chat with neighbors.
