November 6, 9:30 – 11:00: Help clean up the creek along the trail in Trinity Park!
Trinity Park is organizing a trash pick up along Ellerbe Creek on Saturday, November 6, 9:30-11:00am. Meet at the entrance to the trail in the 800 block of Green Street. Dress for the weather and for potential hazards – sturdy shoes and socks, gloves, hat, etc.

College and High School students: This is an excellent opportunity for community service hours. Let Julia know if you need a letter documenting your hours of service.
If we have a large crew, we will split into two groups: one to work northward along the trail and possibly meet some neighbors from the Tyler Ct. area who will be moving south from Club Blvd., and another to work southward from Green toward Markham and beyond. Ten or more volunteers could cover a lot of territory in 90 minutes!
Keep Durham Beautiful will provide some supplies, and we will place all the trash we collect at the Green St. trail entrance for pick up by the City the following week.
On the same day that we are cleaning up in Trinity Park, the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association is organizing a “Big Sweep” five miles away to “pull trash out of the creek in its worst and trashiest area,” at Red Mill Rd. near Falls Lake, where all the trash from our neighborhood gets washed to during the worst rainstorms.
Let’s keep trash from moving along the stream and help reduce the need for Big Sweeps in the future! We can help in the important work of protecting water quality without having to travel far!
