The Eyes of Bach

By Susan Jakes

Marc Moskovitz, cellist and long-time leader of the popular Salon Series chamber music performances in Trinity Park, shared another of his talents with the neighborhood on October 27.  At a public gathering hosted by my husband Phil and me at our home on Watts St., Marc read from his new historical fiction novel, The Eyes of Bach, relating a bit of the backstory, historical setting and his particular interest in the story as a musician. An additional treat was hearing Marc play some of the cello music referenced in the book! One neighbor commented after Marc’s talk and playing, “This is like what happens in big cities, yet we have this talent right here in our neighborhood.”

In his invitation to the event, Marc described the book well: “The book is intended for music lovers and anyone interested in historical fiction. Discussion of Bach’s music is pretty basic, but hopefully, readers unfamiliar with Bach’s music will still get a strong sense of its beauty, complexity, and importance.”
